Comment: I love my new Kindle. It was very easy to set up, learn a few functions, order a book in under a minute and start reading. I love it!!

Summary: Rekindle Reading

Comment: The Kindle is an exceptional little peice of electronics and once you start the book, you almost never want to shut it off. You can take it to the doctors,Laundermat and anywhere you have to spend down time. Image is sharp and easy to read. It's fun.

Summary: Good but needs ergonomic improvement.

Comment: Lets start by saying I love my kindle. I have read seven novels on it already and have travelled internationally with it. It works great. The screen is easy to read but it has a few drawbacks:

1. The right hand next page button can be pressed accidentally when holding the kindle. Since you hold it from the edges, the button would be much better if they were activated by a front press like the left hand buttons or a recessed side press. The design should be for right and left handers with with no preference for right handers.

2. The previous page button is not used much, yet it is the larger button on the left side instead of the smaller button like it should be. Better yet, make the buttons programmable.

3. The case is great for protecting the kindle but lousy for using it to read with. The poor excuse for a retaining clip on the back is not secure at all. The kindle can easily fall out. If you use the elastic strap, it covers the rolling selector button and the indicator bar on the side.

4. The power button is on the back of the unit instead of the front. Not convenient.

5. There is no delete all book marks that I have found. Major pain to delete the book marks one at a time.

6. The tapered design is not symetrical and feels strange to hold. The only advantage is it makes it fit in the case and look like a 3 ring notebook.

7. If you read without the case, there is not a good place to hold the kindle. My thumbs rest on the small area between the screen and the keyboard. Difficult to hold securely. Suggestion: Nice rubber textured edges with the button for page turning on the front, not the side.

THIS IS MY BIGGEST GRIPE: AMAZON READ THIS AND TAKE NOTE:
THE KINDLE NEEDS TO SIMULATE THE WRITTEN BOOK PROCESS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. IF I BUY A BOOK, I CAN'T GIVE IT TO ONE OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS THAT ALSO HAS A KINDLE. THIS IS THE BIGGEST DRAWBACK TO THE KINDLE. IF AMAZON CHARGED $1-$2 TO TRANSFER BOOK OWNERSHIP, READERS WILL PAY THE SMALL FEE. IF IT CAN BE DONE FOR FREE, THIS IS EVEN BETTER.

A written paperback book probably has a life of a half dozen reads before it falls apart. Maybe 6 free transfers should be a part of the price. This issue needs to be addressed if the Kindle is ever to go mainstream.

Summary: Love, Love, Love
Date: 2008-12-01 - 5

Comment: I love my new Kindle! I love the convenience of being able to read a bestseller or a book by a favorite author instantly and also love being able to read a sample to determine if I want to read the whole book. I also love not having to find space on a bookshelf when I'm finished reading.

One suggestion I have for future options is the ability to delete samples after I've read them and the ability to archive books that I've read. This would make the home menu easier to navigate.

On the negative side I haven't been able to find an easy way to hold the kindle. There needs to be an easier way to attach the Kindle to the cover.

Summary: Best product since invention of the printing press

Comment: What can I say? I love this product. I have at my finger tips every book that I ever considered reading and more. I can order a new book 24/7 without any hassle. I admit that some publishers have their heads in the clouds with pricing, especially technical books. Most publishers are realizing that a lower price means greater sales and profits. Some are finding that readers don't want to pay for paper that will be thrown out as soon as the book is read. I can keep my books that I will refer to without the need for additional shelve space. I wish it had a colour display but that is for a future product release.
